Ryan Klebe ENG 241 Act III 1- Macbeth is ranting about his fears of Banquo. He is still afraid that Banquo will kill him so that he can fulfill the witch’s prophecy and pave the way for his son to become king. 2- Macbeth considers Banquo and his son to be enemies because he believes that they might cause him to be found out as the murderer. He is also wary of the witch’s prophecy, which states that one of Banquo’s sons will one day become king. 3- Banquo was slain, but Fleance escaped 4- Banquo sitting in Macbeth’s seat symbolizes his retribution towards the king for ordering the murder. 5- Hecate is the witch’s source of power, and therefore their master. She asks them to meet her in the morning so that she can show Macbeth what his true destiny would be 6- One example of his impending madness is his reaction to Banquo’s ghost.
