CummingsEdward Estlin Cummings work encompassed approximately 2,900 poems, two autobiographical novels, four plays and several essays, and numerous drawings and paintings. His father, Edward, was a professor at Harvard University and taught Sociology and Political Science, but later left to become the minister of the South Congregational Church in Boston. His mother, Rebecca, was the first to introduce the joys of writing to him as a child. According to brainyquote.com, Cummings had once said, “If a poet is anybody, he is somebody to whom things made matter very little - somebody who is obsessed by Making” (1). His great amount of work may have been criticized quite a bit but he is still respected for his original technique.Cummings was a famous poet, painter, essayist, author, and playwright born on October 14, 1894 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. As a child, he attended Cambridge public schools and began writing poems at a young age of eight. During his time at Harvard
