(cocked is with ATP, open is no ATP) When ATP ADP+P, a cross bridge is created to attach to actin filaments. Ca+ ions bind to troponin in sarcomere, causing tropomyosin to rotate and expose many bindindg sites in actin. o Sarcoplassmic reticulum (ER filled with Ca+) surrounds each microfibril o Transverse Tubule wraps around microfibril on the “Z line” o Evidence for Ca++ Release Microstimulation b/w two tubules when positioned over the light (z line) region shows release of calcium onto sarcomere.
