The grant program that permits riders who are
unable to independently navigate to, board, ride, and exit from
xed-route services; and who require assistance between the curb
and door of each location, access to a door-to-door service.
The Detroit Department of Transportation is excited to introduce
its new Detroit Mobility 1st (DM1) service, which is a centralized mobility center focused on enhancing service for eligible
elderly, disabled, and lower-income riders within DDOT’s service area. DM1 serves as the umbrella under which all targetrider services are coordinated for the city of Detroit.
DM1’s service center is housed within DDOT’s Main O ce to
coordinate the service groups: Rider Eligibility, Call Center, Service Providers, Programs & Services, Capital Resources, Mobility
Training, Quality Assurance, and Mobility Outreach. Collectively, these groups produce the service coordination needed for
area-wide service enhancements.
DM1 promotes a Collection of Programs & Services (COPS),
which is funded by grants and DDOT, and is designed to satisfy
eligible rider’s individual transit needs. Riders apply through
DM1 to request certi cation for any of the following COPS:
The DDOT program that permits
eligible elderly and mobility disabled individuals to access
DDOT’s xed-route service, during non-peak hours of
operation, at a reduced fare. (9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
to 6 a.m.).
The DDOT program
that permits riders who are unable to independently navigate to, oard, ride, and exit from xed-route services
access to a curb-to-curb service. MetroLift The grant program that permits age 65 or older
riders, who require the use of a mobility aid, and who are ineligible
for MetroLift, limited access to DDOT’s xed-route service.
