The Harlem Renaissance was in full swing and jazz music became very popular. The 1920s was a time of change in every aspect. New arts and literature trends became popular in the 1920s. Deco art and surrealism styles flourished in the art communities. Popular themes for these styles in this decade were social progress, technology, and sexuality. The Harlem Renaissance produced many new famous artists and authors. Literature became a more democratic style instead of a formal Victorian style. Arts and literature changed so much during the 1920s it made a lasting impression in our culture today.
