MidTerm Review Energy & Operations 3 Elements of Electric Supply Generation: usually from fossil fuels. Expensive infrastructure to bring fuel to the power plant and burn it. Transmission: once the electricity is produced it is transported under high voltage. The current electric grid in the US is very old and in need of replacement. Distribution: Once the energy is produced and transmitted it has to be reduced for consumption at the user level. Cost The consumer pays for: The purchase of the primary energy (coal, nat gas etc.) Transmission of the energy away from the power plant Distribution to the end user. The cost of the electricity you use is determined by the electric meter which calculates how much electricity you take from the distribution. Peak/Off Peak Peak demand, peak load or on-peak are terms used in energy demand management describing a period in which electrical power is expected to be provided for a sustained period at a significantly higher than average supply level.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
