I would say that she is someone worth knowing about and I’m glad I had the chance to watch the video about her. Rather it was accurate or not, Tertullian’s evaluation of philosophers/philosophy was harsh. I’m inclined to agree with much of what he says. It seems true to me that philosophers are often heretical; we should certainly look to God for information about the soul and not to philosophers; As Christians we do have simple answers to many of the “deep philosophical questions”. With that being said, most of the philosophers mentioned do not share our beliefs in Christianity. I am not sure exactly what Tertullian’s point was in writing this. If his point was to say that Christians should not look to philosophy for answers about things that God makes clear through his word, than I wholeheartedly agree.
