MEANINGFUL USE 2 Meaningful Use Meaningful use is crucial technological advancement that was enacted in 2009 according to the Center for Disease and Control (CDC). This advancement has impacted the healthcare system greatly and in a positive way. The new way of care utilizes the use of technology when it comes to patient records, electronic prescribing, and many other aspects within the tools used to treat patients effectively and efficiently. The CDC (2020) writes that: The concept of meaningful use rested on the five pillars of health outcomes policy priorities, namely: Improving quality, safety, efficiency, and reducing health disparities, engage patients and families in their health, improve care coordination, improve population and public health, and ensure adequate privacy and security protection for personal health information. (para. 2).
