The Jewish Tradition In the first eleven chapters of Genesis there is an explanation as to why God uses specific people to share his ideas with the human species. With this concept in mind, I do not understand the reasoning of God flooding the earth to “start over.” Granted, the earth was corrupt and filled with evil people, but destroying an entire world of creation except for a chosen few, will not accomplish much in a moral sense. If God is all knowing, then he would be aware that his flooding of the Earth would not change anything, and that evil would return and continue to control much of the population. When Moses encounters God in the form of a burning bush, God tells Moses his personal name in Hebrew, YHWH. This name is the most holy of names for God which I find very interesting because I have never heard of this name before. Being a Christian, you would think that I would be aware of this name from the first Testament. This may be a result of different interpretation and translation. This name, YHWH makes me
