2IntroductionIn Unit 2 we discussed about three types of Behavior Analytic Skills Assessments, VBMAPP, ABLSS-R, and AFLS, that we will use in our future career. For my assessment, I chose Verbal Behavior Milestone Assessment and Placement Program, VBMAPP, for the skills assessment that I will use most in my career. According to AVB Press, VBMAPP is a language and social skills assessment program for children with ASD or other intellectual disabilities that is developed for up to 4 years of age and divided into 3 levels of assessment. (AVB Press, n.d). I am currently employed as a Registered Behavioral Technician where most of my client that I work with are based off the VBMAPP skills assessment, compared to the other skills assessments. With my job I have been fortunate where I have had an opportunity to be able to work with a BCBA at my job that has let me observe and run a VBMAPP with a client so early in my career. The client observed was a 6-year-old girl where her level on the VBMAPP is a Level 2. During the assessment, the client was tested on echoics, tacting, and listener response. The client had to be able to tact a total of 250 noun and/or verbs in order to move up to Level 3, which she was able to do, but is not able to tact 1,000 words in order to complete Level 3. During listener response, the client had to be able to listen to what picture she had to find and match the different pictures of the same item. By this, generalization was worked on because it was the same type of category but looked different. Also, the client was being tested on echoics, where the client had to repeat the word that was being presented to see if she was able to imitate the word correctly and as the same way it was being presented to her. During this assessment to the client, it gave me a better understanding on what the VBMAPP is and how to run the assessment with a client.
