face is quite appalling, isn’t it? It is truly upsetting that America has and still does
place limitations and social stigmas onto people who do not conform to the status quo
or fit into mainstream society. Much of the discrimination faced by transgender
people comes from the same place as does anti-gay discrimination. Transgender
people and many other groups of people who fall within the LGBTQ spectrum all
know what it means to be perceived as an outlier. However, the good news is that we
are living in a time period where our generation is slowly breaking away from the
status quo and social barriers. People all over the U.S., such as heterosexual men,
heterosexual women, ethnic minorities, and sexual minorities, are all moving away
from traditional gender roles and many other social conventions. As all of you can see
here, my message is very clear.
