SIGHT,’HEARING,’AND’TOUCH’IN’NAVIGATION’SYSTEMS 2 Abstract’ ’ This’paper’explores’the’advantages’and’disadvantages’of’several’sensory’modalities’ including,’sight,’hearing,’and’the’sense’of’touch’while’using’navigation’devices.’It’ uses’these’potential’benefits’and’drawbacks’to’evaluate’situations’in’which’a’person’ would’use’a’certain’type’of’GPS.’ Every’setting’or’circumstance’is’different’and’ therefore,’co uld’require’the’utilization’of’a’different’sensory’modality,’resulting’in’a’ different’variety’of’geographical’guidance’tool.’Every’individual’is’also’unique’and’ has’varying’personal’preferences,’which’can’influence’the’kind’of’GPS’used’in’ situations.’Even’ though’one’modality’could’have’a’higher’quantity’of’possible’ strong’ points,’the’specific’characteristics ’ of’the’situation’a’person’is’in’ultimately’dictates’ the’choice’in’navigation’gadget.’ Examples’of’applications’for’these’navigation’ implements’ include’ the’military,’law’enforcement,’public’safety’officers’(especially’ firefighters),’ usage’while’ travelling,’and’usage’ while’in’search’of’something .’ ’ ’ Keywords: sensory’ modalities,’navigation’system,’GPS’device
