1.Virginia Declaration of Rights:was drafted by George Mason in May 1776and amended by Thomas Ludwell Lee and the Virginia Convention. ThomasJefferson drew heavily from it when he drafted the Declaration ofIndependence one month later, this uniquely influential document was alsoused by James Madison in drawing up the Bill of Rights and by theMarquis de Lafayette in drafting the French Declaration of the Rights ofMan.And basically was led toproclaim the inherentrightsof men, including theright toreform or abolish inadequate government. It influenced a number of laterdocuments, including theUnited States Declaration of IndependenceandtheUnited States Bill of Rights.Lee Resolution:Richard Henry Lee of Virginia proposed independence for theAmerican colonies by introducing this resolution in the Second ContinentalCongress on June 7, 1776 on July 2, 1776, the Congress passed the LeeResolution, concerning which John Adams wrote, in a letter to his wife, Abigail,"The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history ofAmerica.
