Note the keyed and tapered. 11 Remove muffler. 12 Disconnect throttle and governor linkages. Draw the connection. 13 Remove the fuel system (carburetor). How does the fuel get delivered to the combustion chamber? Note how it is connected to the crankshaft. 17 Remove engine from lawnmower chassis. 18 Drain engine oil into a pan by opening drain plug. Set lawnmower chassis aside. 19 Remove crankcase cover. 20 Remove oil pump. How does the oil travel in the camshaft to lubricate driveshaft? 21 Look for timing marks on camshaft and crankshaft. Remove camshaft. 22 Remove lifters/tappets. What do these do? 23 Disconnect connecting rod from crankshaft. 24 Push connecting rod to remove piston and connecting rod. 25 Remove crankshaft. Notice alignment marks. 26 Notice pressure relief valve. What is it for? How does the governor work? Take care not to damage the piston face. 2 Insert the crankshaft. You may have to move the connecting rod out of the way. 3 Using the alignment marks, refasten the connecting rod to the crankshaft. 4 Replace the lifters/tappets. 5 Replace the camshaft and line up the timing marks. 6 Replace the oil pump. 7 Replace the crankcase cover. Be careful to align the governor gear. 8 Re-mount the engine on the lawnmower chassis. 9 Replace the engine oil. 10 Replace the blade. 11 Replace the kill switch/engine brake. 12 Replace the carburetor. Use your drawing. 14 Replace the muffler. 15 Replace the flywheel. Depress the kill switch to seat the flywheel completely. Do not forget the key and spacer. 16 Replace and tighten flywheel fastener. 17 Replace transformer (Follow recommendation to set gap for transformer). 18 Replace cylinder head. Follow recommendations for bolt torque. 19 Replace engine shroud. 20 Replace air filter/intake. 21 Replace fuel tank. Reconnect fuel hose. Replace clamp(s). 22 Replace starter assembly. 23 Replace spark plug. Reconnect spark plug wire. Clean your tools and work area.
