Review Session 5/3/07 2:30-4:30 (with Shayna) Last year’s final is posted on the website. 3 hours long: IDs, short essay, and long essay (50%) – divide your time according to what percentage each section is worth IDs 20% - somewhat specific Short and Long Essays: - he won’t require us to read things that were optional - They won’t necessarily be tied to the readings, but they definitely might be. - Make sure that you can draw on readings Studying: - go through last year’s final and this year’s midterm: make outlines of what type of evidence you would bring into a response - **you have to make an argument** - This doesn’t mean don’t acknowledge the other side – explain how it factors in to your position - Focus more on the topics of the lectures than the readings - See which readings you can use to match up to different lecture topics, or topics that would bring together some of the lectures - From lectures: be able to understand his arguments, not necessarily the evidence or statistics that he brings in to support that - Be able to say: “as we learned in lecture” or “as Nickel and Dimed says…”
