In reviewing that information, you have learned about the changes in the OSHA standard that were achieved in 2000. You have also learned that bloodborne pathogen protections were not new, but that employers were required since 1991 to protect health care workers. The legislative and regulatory protections that have passed to this date are effective, but more needs to be done.
