18 Laboratory Five Latches and Flip-flops Objectives The main objective of this laboratory is to explore the properties of latches and flips- flops. To do this you will construct several circuits, apply different signals to them and observe the results. Activities Part 1: Latch The first activity is to construct the latch circuit shown on page 159 of the textbook. Here it is:

19 After you have constructed the latch attach an LED and resistor to each of its outputs and observe the behavior of the latch as +5 and ground are applied to its inputs. Based on the description of the latch in the textbook we expect the latch to behave in a predictable way as long as only one of its inputs is a 1. Is this the behavior that you observe? Now we will examine what happens when both of the inputs are set to 1 at the same time. Connect the clock circuit from laboratory three to both of the inputs to the latch.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
