16 Laboratory Four Combining Gates: Half and Full Adders Objectives The main objectives for this laboratory are: Gain experience with logic circuits that involve multiple gates and chips Prototype the half adder and full adder circuits from the textbook Activities The first activity is to construct the one bit half adder circuit shown on page 154 of the textbook (included below). This circuit uses an XOR gate and an AND gate, which are on two different chips. Place these two chips on the breadboard and connect them as shown in the textbook. Place an LED on both the sum and the carry output so you can monitor the output from the circuit. Remember to use a 1K resistor with the LEDs so they don’t draw too much power.Once you have the half adder constructed connect the two inputs to the four possible combinations of ground and 5 volts and record the output from the circuit. Does this output agree with the truth table in the textbook?
