Unformatted text preview: c beverages. While this purchase or possession is a mis- demeanor, violators are also subject to having their driver’s license revoked for a year. It is illegal to operate a motor vehicle—and boat or moped—while a person has a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 percent or higher. For drivers under 21 who drive with a BAC of .02 percent but less than .08 percent, the driver’s license is suspended for six months and a fine of up to $500 is imposed. For those arrested for driving on a license suspended or revoked under a prior DUI conviction, the offender’s car is immediately impounded for 30 days. The court can impound the vehicle for an additional 90 days following conviction. If the car does not belong to the offender, the car owner may petition the court for release of the vehicle. Your driver’s license will automatically be revoked for seven days if you refuse a breath test or if your BAC is .08 percent or higher.
