A brief discussion of these challenges are outlined here, though they were not specifically the main topic of this research: " Cross-functional coordination: It was observed that before the new initiative was begun in 2009, the Raytheon energy management program was fairly typical in that focus was placed on improving support systems largely under the facilities department's direct control. Improving the energy efficiency of process equipment absolutely requires participation by both operations and facilities staff, and can also be greatly aided by dedicated energy managers to facilitate activities like DMAIC improvement processes.
