From these measurements alone, however, it is impossible to determine the amount of kilowatt-hours which were non-value added. The second step in the Tier 1 DMAIC process (Measure) was thus critical to uncovering the previously hidden muda, and where it was most prevalent. Measure The second step in the DMAIC process is to measure key aspects of the current process and collect relevant data. For the first tier process, this meant a full account of the electricity use in CCA, requiring the employment of all the measurement techniques described in Section 4 to equipment both within the confines of CCA and also in the surrounding areas.
