When do cell fates become determined: o o Fate not determined which means signing from the new environment is influential. o With older embryo, you can’t change. They don’t listen to their new environmental signal. It needs antenna to listen and cells aren’t responding to the signal. o Transplanted cells assume identity of cells corresponding to their new environment at early stages (blastula stage), but not at later stages (gastrula and beyond). o o There is potential for any cell that has matured to dedifferentiate back to undetermined state.
