Read this synopsis of congressional term limits and career politicians (this is what we would have covered together in class before looking at the political cartoon): Although terms in congress are limited to two years for the House of Representatives and six years for the Senate, there are no term limits. This means that a member of either the House or the Senate can run for re-election as many times as they want and conceivably get re-elected for the rest of their lives. The President of the United States on the other hand is limited to serving two four-year terms.
