Consider the liquid surge vessel discussed in class. Our job, as the engineer, is to design a
controller to maintain a constant volume of liquid inside the vessel. (a)
There are many ways to control this system. Purpose three unique controller
configurations that could be used and address the points below for each configuration. A
combination of two controller configurations is not considered unique. Use the same variables as
the figure above.
(b) Draw a process diagram of controller configuration (similar to the figure above)
and the block diagram for the control scheme.
State whether the controller is feedback or feedforward
List the state, input, and output variables for the system
Write the balance equation in terms of the variables listed above
