Tommy Schneider 10/15/12 Mr. Morehouse The Swamp Fox The Swamp Fox is the nickname given to the military officer in the American Revolutionary War, Francis Marion. He rose to fame throughout the late 1950's due to the Television show produced by Walt Disney called "The Swamp Fox". This show brought to the public eye many factual events but also exaggerated some other ideas and beliefs. The Swamp Fox was a very popular show based on the historical military leader Francis Marion, in which it went into detail about many historically accurate and inaccurate information. Francis Marion was an active participant and leader in the Continental Army and the South Carolina militia commissions against the British during the American Revolutionary War. He was a persistent adversary of the British in their occupation of South Carolina in 1780 and 1781, even after the Continental Army was driven out of the state in the Battle of Camden . He
