MHS 252 Assessment 1 Therapy Dogs Research Methods: I initially utilized acorn in the Vanderbilt library and looked at google scholar for basic categories, but all of my articles ultimately came from proquest. The key words that I used in combinations in my searches were: animal assisted therapy, dog, canine, autism intervention, and learning disorders. My main questions going into this research were: 1.) If animal-assisted therapy is effective 2.) If there are certain disorders or situations in which it is more effective 3.) If it could be a compounding therapy or a sustainable alternative to medical intervention The following four articles are my jumping off point for these questions. My biggest problem when it comes to research papers is finding a sustainable focus that is neither too large nor too small. I hope to hone in on a more precise topic during spring break under the category of canine-assisted therapy Articles: In the Dooper Article there were no significant differences in anxiety levels between the dog therapy group and the regular group. Both groups underwent therapy, one simply had the presence of a dog. The limitations of this study are not only the small scope of what was being
