2Introduction The Battlefield of Saratoga involved Hessian troops and British troops, who were approximately five thousand eight hundred and ninety-five in number. General John Burgoyne led them. On the other hand, General Horatio Gates commanded the American Army against the British. The Battle of Saratoga occurred in 1777 (Montanus, 2018). Two significant battles definethe Battle of Saratoga. The first one was battle at Freeman's Farm, and the second one, which ledto the surrender of the Burgoyne troops, was at Bemis Heights. After engaging in combat at Freeman's Farm, which occurred on September 19, General Burgoyne's troops were defeated before deciding to launch a second unsuccessful attack on the Continental troops led by General Horatio Gates on October 7 (Strange, 2015). The Continental troops led by General Horatio wereconsidered to be weak; they managed to defeat General Burgoyne and his troops, who surrendered and joined the Continental troops in fighting against the British. A close examinationat the Park, one can see an empty southern niche which is in recognition of General Benedict Arnold. His role in the American Revolution War was paramount, especially in the Battle of Saratoga. However, he is infamous for being a traitor because he betrayed his country to their enemy, the British. The emptiness of the southern niche was designed to recognize the conflicting roles in the American Revolution. Therefore, France becomes an American ally, and they fought together to win against the British.Two significant battles define the Battle of Saratoga.
