Most potent phagocytic cell, the first line of defense. The first cell that emigrates from the blood to the site of infection. The eosinophil, basophil, and mast cells are highly granulated. These granules contain highly anti- microbial compounds. Mast and eosinophil are involved in combatting multicellular parasites, as well as allergies.
