Us e a few more red wires to c onnec t all red power bus es together (e.g., as s hown in the pic ture below). Ignore the
c omponents and wires in the terminal s trips for now
Us e a few more blac k wires to c onnec t all blue ground bus es together (e.g., as s hown in the pic ture below). Connec t the blac k wire from the ground jac k that points toward the breadboard into the blue bus of the bus s trip that runs
perpendic ular to all other bus s trips to c reate a ground bus .
Connec t the red wire from the Vc jac k that points toward the breadboard to the 3F pinhole in the terminal s trip c los es t to Vc .
Plug the L78L00 power regulator into the protoboard s o that its Vin input pin (pin #3) is in the s ame 5-hole row (row 3) as the
red wire y ou jus t c onnec ted into 3F. See the power regulator's pin notation in the s c hematic above. Note that y ou need to
look at the bottom of the power regulator pac k age (the s ide with the pins ) when c omparing it to the pic ture and us e the flat
and round s urfac es of the power regulator to orient it.
Plug blac k wire in the s ame 5-hole terminal (row 4) as the ground pin (middle pin) of y our power regulator. Plug the other end
of the blac k wire into a nearby blue bus .
Plug red wire into the s ame c olumn as the output pin (pin #1) (row 5) of y our power regulator. Plug the other end of the red
wire into a nearby red bus . This red wire c arries the 5V output voltage that we want for our TTL c hips .
Put the c apac itor between pins 1 and 2 to c omplete the c irc uit. Connec t a 9 V battery to the battery c lip.
At this point y ou may want to us e a multimeter to c hec k the voltage of y our power and ground bus es to c onfirm that there is
approx imately + 5 volts of potential differenc e between power and ground. To c hec k the voltage, y ou will need to c ompare the
potential differenc e of two loc ations on the protoboard, s o c onnec t the blac k probe to a ground bus and the other probe to a
