FINAL EXAMINATION STUDY GUIDE Know the following: Gregorian Chant- music to which portions of the Roman Catholic service are sung by unaccompanied voices singing in unison Fugue- imitative polyphonic composition Temp- temporary film score, composed of existing music, prepared to demonstrate to a film’s composer the type of music desired Film Score- Sound Track Multitrack recording- Track- Mixing Board- Recording Studio- Overdubbing- Consort-Ensemble of several members of the same instrumental family Syncopation-occurrence of accents on weak beats, or between beats Sonata Allegro- first movement form. The three sections: exposition, development, and recapitulation—form a binary design Minuet and Trio- ABA often the third movement of a symphony, sonata, or string quartet. Consists of two minutes, the second (trio) lighter and more lyrical than the first Rondo- ABACA form in which various episodes alternate with the opening material. The tempo is usually fast and the mood is merry
