Summary of Excerpt from Adam of Bremen and Excerpts from Oddr Snorrason Adam of Bremen Adam was a schoolmaster at the cathedral of North Bremen. After the death of king Eric the Victorious (many believe that Adam proclaimed that Eric ruled Denmark forcing king Svein into exile), King Svein returned from Exile and married his widow (The mother of Olaf) and bore him Canute. The Saga of Olaf Tryggvason This saga was written down by Oddr Snorrason in skaldic poetry in Iceland. Oddr was a monk at the time. King Eric was married to queen Sigrid. She was very imperious to the point that they did not get along. Some claim that King Eric was so sick of her arrogance that they divorced, while others claim that she did not want to be buried with him (as was custom of the time). She also believed that his fate would not last him more than 10 years because of his obsession with victory and battle. King Eric ruled in Sweden at the time, and waged battle against Styrbjorn.
