A. Flooding Patient is "continuously presented with fearful object, until it no longer produces a response Not always possible B. Implosion --> patient must "continuously" imagine fearful situation Think about being in a room full of snakes Difficult to do with strong fear response C. Counter - Conditioning Replace CR of fear with a more pleasant response 1. Identify a positive UCS-UCR association 2. Pair the feared object (VERY LOW) with the positive UCS - UCR 1. i.e. watch cartoon snake while eating chocolate 3. Gradually increase intensity of the feared object 4.
