Essay #4: Journal Part 1 Ethos is characterized by persuading an audience to make decisions based on emotional feelings. Appealing to an individual’s emotions influence people to think and believe in our claims. Logos is characterized by persuading an audience through factual evidence and reasoning. Appealing to an individual by providing hard evidence and thorough reasoning will convince a reader to correspond with any argument. Lastly, Pathos is characterized by persuading an audience through one’s character. Appealing to an individual by establishing authority and credibility while connecting with their emotions will encourage readers to trust a writer’s motives. After hearing that my uncle won the lottery, persuading him to give me money to pay tuition for my education is very understanding. By influencing his emotional feelings, I would tell him about my financial struggles. With no job and my parents
