Taylor Christopher Christopher 1 Dr. Mary Rose Johnson Kinesiology September 21, 2010 Philosophy Paper There are many different philosophies concerning the subjects of sports, fitness, and physical education. Various philosophies of these topics have developed since the 1950’s by well-known people who have had a major impact. Whether it’s sportsmanship, competitiveness, physical health, or just simply the pure enjoyment of physical activity, everyone has their own philosophy. After briefly overlooking all the philosophies mentioned in Chapter 3, I have come to the conclusion of determining my own personal philosophy. My objective was to figure out the most important factors of the participation of sports through the perspective of a Christian, due to the fact that I highly value my relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. I have concluded that sports should emphasize the physical and social well-being of the athlete. It seems that often times today, people tend to lose sight of the big picture of sports.
