Note Agency: R=refers to the capacity of individuals to act independently; to be intentional, volatile and/or purposive in their actions. The actor exercises freedom of choice. What’s the relevance of agency and structure? Different theorist will go how agency operates in different realms Structure: refers to recurrent, enduring, patterned arrangements which influence and potentially determine the choices and opportunities available to the individual. Macro-level theories tend to emphasis the influence of society Macro is more broad and on a huge scale and in a wider range while Micro is more symbolic so more on a small scale and more dense This brings us to an interesting set of questions often referred to as the structure/agency debate in sociology. What is society? Do we make it or does it make us? Well explore aspects of these question through the semester Ontology At its crudest level, ontology is the study or science of existence; of what is involved in existing. It derives the Greek ‘onto,’ meaning being and ‘logos’ meaning science The word being has two sense: Something that is, or exist; an entity or thing, What it is to be or exist; what all things that exist have in common Social Ontology Social ontology refers to the nature of social reality.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
