Travis Edwards SOC 301 Dr. Hemp March 13, 2014 Social Change: Marxism Social change among different establishments has been present throughout human evolution. From each period brought forth an intellectual being who described and analyzed social changes from different establishments. These different socialist gave their direct intellect from the social aspects that’s right in front of them. For example, Karl Marx shaped the subject of sociology by giving the world his perspectives on different sociological analogies. Along with Karl Marx, we notice the work of Friedrich Hegel with his perspective on consciousness and dialectic. With Hegel proving his points on the sociological terms, Karl Marx took a different approach and explained how the evolution of social change occurs. Hegel took the approach of saying that dialectic belongs in the same nature to consciousness. The most common definition reads “an organism that is conscious if there is something it is like to be that organism (Allen).”This definition means that Consciousness is noticed as the awareness of something. A great example that I can think of is how we go to an aquarium and view a fast swimming shark. If I bring my brother to the aquarium with me, we both might view that shark swimming in the tank.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
