Unformatted text preview: emphasize the importance of nature to the Company’s chance of victory because, not only does the Company fight for the creatures of Middle-earth, but they fight to preserve the beauty of the nature. By better understanding Tolkien’s intentions with the various trees and the different characteristics associated with them, a reader will better understand the nature of many of the conflicts within the book as well as Tolkien’s environmental vision. From this broad theme of natures and trees, I plan to consider various sub-themes. The different abilities of the trees play a key role in how they influence the Company. Some of the trees can talk, others can move, and some contain different appearances than others. Another sub-theme from this topic deals with the specific influences the various trees have on the Company at different parts of their journey....
