Case Study Professor Hartman September 27, 2013 As Human Resource Director, Carolyn Bridges has an obligation both to her boss, Gino Duncan, and to the 1,500 employees of DM Bicycle Company. With Gino’s idea to implement a new corporate social responsibility program relating to a personal family issue of his, it puts Carolyn on edge. Yes, all the employees are willing to help Gino and his sick daughter out, but not at their own three year expense. The employees have not received a bonus in three years which undercuts their hard work because orders are flying in at record rate. Through chatting with employees, it’s evident to Carolyn that the employees are upset that most of the incoming money will be going towards the company’s new CSR program rather than bonuses. Disgruntled workers are not a good thing for DM Bicycle Company to have especially with a high increase of sales forecasted for the upcoming fiscal year.
