Grades and Schoolwork I was homeschooled through eighth grade and received a wonderful foundation for my education from my mom. When I transitioned into a private school my freshman year, I found that many of the concepts and tasks we were assigned posed more of a challenge to my fellow students than myself. This did not contribute to any pride or bragging, but I did begin to find my identity in my grades. Each paper, each report card I got back made me feel better about myself and more valuable. I worked hard, but I was never pushed past my threshold to achieve a good grade. This first month at college has changed all that. No longer can I give a half-hearted effort and still get that coveted A. In fact, sometimes my best efforts don’t earn me an A. My mind started clouding with stress as I felt my grades, the one place I felt I excelled strongly in, slipped a bit. Prayer and time with God is probably the best method of dealing with stress that would help me in the area of schoolwork. As Christians, Christ
