Patient Assignment (March. 19, 2014) Diagnosis – Pelvic Abscess – * A pus-filled cavity in the pelvis due to infection. Medication – Scheduled: Vitamin B12 – It is important for metabolism and helps in the formation of red blood cells and in the maintenance of the central nervous system. Florinef – Classification: Corticosteroids Mode of Action: It is used to treat conditions such as Addison’s disease and adreno-genital syndrome that result in the adrenal gland not producing enough steroid hormone It works by reducing salt loss, increase potassium loss, and increasing blood pressure. Midodrine – Classification: Vasopressin Mode of Action: Used to relieve symptoms of low blood pressure (dizziness, lightheadedness and fainting) Side Effects: Dry mouth, dizziness, headache, fainting, anxiety, rash and itching Lasix – Generic Name – Furosemide Classification – Loop diuretic Mode of Action – inhibits reabsorption of sodium and chloride at proximal and distal tubules and in the loop of henle Side Effects – Low BP, dehydration and electrolyte depletion, jaundice, ringing in the ears, photophobia, rash, pancreatitis, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain and dizziness.
