Maria Ledden Einstein’s Letter Rhetoric 1/26/10 Einstein qualifies the question he addresses in his letter by giving his answer and then using logic to support it . However, a question like that isn’t one that can be answered with a one- word answer, so qualifying it in a way a 6 th grader can understand is his only option if he wants to give an honest answer . He answers the question “do scientists pray”, and he clarifies that there is definitely a superior being even in the science world . The first sentence of Einstein’s letter is very straightforward to assure the reader that he took time to think about the question to be able to come up with a simple answer . This helps establish ethos as a normal person, not as a super genius . He immediately goes to the scientific part of his argument, which is his area of expertise, so we can easily believe him and that he speaks from experience . His point also makes logical sense because he acknowledges that
