Schaefer (2011) Being how sociology is a social science, this chapter discusses how sociologist obtain their research. Like all scientists, the scientific method is the standard for doing research. This in- cludes clearly defining the problem, doing accurate background work, choosing a hypotheses, then selecting the proper research design to figure a conclusion. It is necessary that all variables be accounted for to make it as empirical as possible in the research. The different types of designs include surveys, observations, and experiments. It also critical to maintain the code of ethics. Feminist methodology and technology has also effected research.
