Jeongsoo Kim AMS 3300.001 Reading Questions for December 3 rd 1) Biblical epics were very popular films during the 1950’s and the early 1960’s because there was a rising tide of religious feeling in the United States during that time and there trends such as increasing church attendance and an increase in the number of people who claimed to believe in God. 2) The term “benevolent supremacy” was the idea that an American dominated international order would best guarantee the expansion of democracy and best secures the liberty of all nations. The term was coined by Charles Hillard’s right wing tract. It related to colonialism because many nations under European rule wanted independence and the United States was portrayed to be the leader to make the transition from colony to independent state a peaceful process. The biblical epics engaged it by making allegorical comparisons between Moses and the United States as both benevolent leaders helping out those suffering.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
