Ron Kim English Obstacles ` Frank A. Clark, an American politician from the nineteen hundreds, once stated, “If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere.” Perhaps this quote explains why we must have obstacles. Maybe the reason is because the obstacles strengthen us and lead us to new opportunities. I learned this to be true when I first moved to United States when I was seven. One of the biggest challenges I faced was learning a new language. I got off the plane from Korea having no knowledge of English. When I arrived at my new school a few days later, it was horrifying. All these questions of doubt ran through my head; “What if no one decides to eat lunch with me? Is anyone going to talk to me? How am I going to communicate with the other students?” These fears were relieved when I walked into the classroom and another Korean boy was there to help me. That made the first day a little easier, but it was still a tough day for me. The teacher’s instructions were very confusing, so I did not know what to do. The other students tried to help me
