Ron Kim “Big” Essay As the animals began to oppose Jones’ “tyranny” in George Orwell’s novel, Animal Farm, Major’s dream of a unified society of animals without humans is used to set up a political system which controlled all the animals. However as the novel went on, Major’s dream only proved to be an ideal and the system became more and more corrupt and abusive. One of the most important things that Major’s ideal society required was a complete distinction between the human lifestyle and the animal lifestyle. His dreams clearly instructed the animals not to do anything that resembled the humans. He makes this clear by stating, “No animal must ever live in a house, or sleep in a bed, or wear clothes, or drink alcohol, or smoke tobacco, or touch money, or engage in trade” (Ch.1). This dream is actually kept true for a very short period of time when the animals followed the original commands. These original commands included, “No animal shall
