GLY Test 1 material Section 3 notes Evolution I. What is science? a. Not just collection of facts about the natural world b. Tightly integrated set of facts and theories. Facts=observations c. Attained through “scientific method” d. Explanations must be natural (no supernatural) e. Scientific method (observe facts, construct hypothesis, predict, collect data to test hypothesis) f. When hypothesis survives multiple tests and alternative is rejected, it becomes a theory g. Conclusions are tentative-always open to more testing h.
