CJ403 Week 8 Discussion Post Q. It has been thought that law enforcement is “overwhelmed” when it comes to suppressing violent street crimes. Is this the case with white collar crime? Why or why not? A. Upon completion of the reading, I would venture to say that fighting street crime is equally as challenging and overwhelming as fighting white collar crimes. We know that street crimes are abundant and even with preventative community policing strategies, police and other law enforcement agencies will undoubtedly ever be able to completely rid our communities of criminal behaviors. White collar crimes are also prevalent in our communities but more difficult to detect

Responsible guardianship and extra deterrent methods can be utilized in areas where white collar crimes have already happened or might be expected to happen but it would be unreasonable and overwhelming for police officers to attempt to establish and monitor every possible situation that may result in white collar crime, especially since they tend to happen over long periods of time opposed to street crimes that are evident when them occur....
