Forrest Gump is a man who experiences the world differently than most of society. He is a little slower in understanding things that most others would pick up quickly. But Forrest has learned to use his disadvantage as an advantage and lived an eventful, promising life; full of love, and happiness, but also a lot of heartache and pain. He made his own opportunities and never let his disability get the best of him. He ran, a lot, not because he was some kind of track star, but because he learned to appreciate his legs as a child when he was forced into wearing leg braces to help straighten put his spine. Most of Forrest’s experiences come from his own doing. He became a captain of a fishing boat because Bubba and him made a promise, he became a professional ping ponger by practicing hours and hours a day, he was the best friend anyone could ask for because he was honest and trustworthy and he always kept his word. But most of all, he was true to his one and only love, Jenny. He did everything he could for that woman, and although he never realized how terribly she treated him, he was always there for her- protecting her, loving her, etc. Self regulation (aka Self Control) is a reoccurring theme throughout the movie Forrest Gump. It is most apparent in the characters of Forrest and Jenny. Although very different, the two express many different qualities that can tie into this theme. Let’s start with Forrest Gump.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
