a.i. Direct Actions a.i.1. Cases brought directly to the ECJ Someone will file an application with the clerk for the ECJ (registrar), equivalent of a brief filed with the US supreme court party being sued has 1 month once it’s processed through registrars office to reply once initial complaint and response are in, there’s one more round each side gets to put in two arguments president will assign it to a chamger (3,5,13), and an advocate general will be appointed to the case at this point, the parties are asked if they want an oral hearing (don’t have to do that) or just submit material and let judges render decision. the chamber that will hear the case will receive the initial report from the advocate general, which makes recommendations about what type of preliminary inquiries or evidence the court should have for this case (the homework for the court’s reference) once that is done, a date is set if there is an oral hearing and they will have the hearing
