How did Electrolux Chief Executive Straberg break down barriers (and increase communications) between departments? Why did he do this? Explain. Chief Executive Straberg broke down barriers by eliminating them between all of the departments. After the barriers were eliminated, this made the designers all work together to create new products with the help of engineers and marketers. Communication increased because everyone had a chance to give their opinion on what kind of products should be created and how they could all work together to get them created. Straberg did this because Electrolux needed to make some radical changes. The company had no new ideas or ways to create new products because of the loack of group effectiveness. All ideas were brought up by the designers only. There is nothing wrong with this but the more input, the better the outcome. Designers would come up with ideas, engineers would build it, and marketers would come up with a way to present it to the public. The entire structure of the company had to be revamped in order to see a foreseeable future and to achieve excellent results.
